My Weekend with the 2026 Volvo XC90

A weekend is often the best way to get to know a vehicle, and the 2026 Volvo XC90 had plenty of opportunities to impress me. After spending a few days driving it around town, I quickly discovered why it's such a popular choice for families looking for comfort, space, and safety.

First Impressions

It didn't take long to understand why so many families love this SUV. From the moment I climbed inside, the first thing that caught my attention was the large infotainment screen. Everything felt modern, clean, and easy to use without being overwhelming.

Throughout the weekend, the XC90 joined me for a variety of activities, including the Corporate Games sand volleyball tournament on Friday, dinner and a sunset drive on Saturday, and a grocery run on Sunday. Whether I was driving across town or making a quick stop, the XC90 felt comfortable and capable every step of the way.

Designed with Families in Mind

One of my favorite features was the second row. The captain's chairs make the cabin feel incredibly spacious, and they provide easy access to the third row when needed. The built-in window shades were another feature I appreciated, especially for families with kids riding in the back.

There is plenty of room throughout the cabin, and the XC90 never felt cramped. Between the spacious seating and generous cargo area, it's easy to picture this SUV handling everything from school drop-offs to family road trips.

Comfort That Stands Out

The giant panoramic roof was easily one of my favorite parts of the vehicle. It fills the cabin with natural light and makes the interior feel even larger than it already is. During my sunset drive on Saturday, it was the perfect feature to enjoy.

The seats were another highlight. My boyfriend rode along for part of the weekend and immediately commented on how comfortable they were. The XC90 rides incredibly smooth, stays remarkably quiet on the road, and has plenty of power when you need it. It feels refined without sacrificing practicality.

Modern Technology Made Simple

One thing Volvo does exceptionally well is creating technology that feels intuitive. My boyfriend mentioned how easy it was to navigate through the infotainment system, and I agree. The large touchscreen is responsive and easy to understand, making everyday driving feel effortless.

I was also impressed by the camera system. The image quality is incredibly clear, making parking and maneuvering simple despite the XC90's size. Add in Volvo's many safety features, alerts, and driver-assistance technologies, and it's easy to see why safety remains one of the brand's biggest strengths.

Scandinavian Style

The interior perfectly reflects Volvo's Scandinavian design philosophy. It's minimal without feeling plain, luxurious without feeling flashy. Everything has a purpose, and the simple layout creates a relaxing environment for both drivers and passengers.

The exterior was just as impressive. The color on my XC90 turned heads throughout the weekend and complemented the SUV's clean, sophisticated design.

Final Thoughts

After spending a weekend with the 2026 Volvo XC90, it's easy to see why it's such a strong choice for families. Between the three rows of seating, second-row captain's chairs, window shades, spacious cargo area, advanced safety features, and comfortable ride, it checks a lot of boxes for busy households.

If you're looking for an SUV that combines luxury, practicality, and family-friendly features, the XC90 deserves a spot at the top of your list. It made everyday errands feel a little more enjoyable and proved that a family vehicle can still feel refined, modern, and fun to drive.
